Frontenac Business Services Awards Two Student Bursaries

Harrowsmith – The Board of Frontenac Business Services are pleased to announce they have awarded two St. Lawrence College (SLC) students from the County of Frontenac with bursaries. “Since the inception of this bursary in 2005, Frontenac Business Services has assisted 19 SLC learners facing financial barriers to continuing their education” said Brett Prikker, Chair, Frontenac Business Services.

One of the bursaries has been awarded to Cindy who is studying Veterinary Technology. “I am so honoured to be selected to receive this bursary.” said Cindy. “Going back to school to finally do what I’ve always wanted to do has been a huge adjustment. Your help is greatly appreciated and is a big relief to the financial portion of my education. The many extra expenses aside from tuition can be a major source of stress, which you have helped to alleviate. This means I can spend more time focusing on the skills and content rather than the daily financial worries. Again, thank you for your generosity, I will endeavor to make you proud.”

“St. Lawrence College is grateful for the support received from the Frontenac Community Futures Development Corporation” said Jessica Kostuck,
Associate Director, Development, SLC. “The FCFDC Bursary is awarded to residents of the Township of North, Central, or South Frontenac or the Frontenac Islands, who have been accepted into a full-time Technology, Skilled Trades or Apprenticeship Program at the Kingston Campus, and who have demonstrated community involvement and good academic standing. Since the inception of this award, FCFDC has assisted 19 SLC learners facing financial barriers to continuing their education. Thanks to the generosity of alumni, friends and community partners, the application for the Summer Round of bursaries and scholarships will be open from July to September 2022.”
